SUBJECT:  Update for Variable Tax Rate Processing

Supercedes memo NCAS-97-0046

Everyone should be familiar with the sales tax changes that began on January 1, 1997 as explained in the previous memo # NCAS-97-0046, dated February 27,1997. The new method of prorating taxes on invoice lines will be effective as of Monday, March 31, 1997. All AP policy will be changed over the weekend of 3/29/97 to reflect the tax changes and will be in production Monday morning. The updated procedures and this memo will be in the latest version of the SIG which will be released for March 31, 1997.

The new procedures are essentially the same as the previous ones except that during the nexting process the mini-chart indicators are blanked out and moved to the use tax field. Please review the new procedures to make sure you understand the entire process. It is very important that all accounts payable personnel be made aware of the new procedures immediately.
