System Preparation Step-by-Step
 
1. Ensure that the printer is off!
2.
  1. Fan the white 8 1/2 x 11 inch paper.
  2. Push the upper paper tray’s spring load down.
  3. Load the upper paper tray with this paper.
3. Turn on the printer power switch located on the front left side of the printer. 

Note: The following message will be displayed on the printer display: LOGON 0 PASSWORD = 0. 

The light beside the lock icon will be illuminated.

4. Type your auditor printer password as follows:
  1. Press the Reset button until the [first] digit of your password number is displayed. (This Reset button acts as an up arrow key, and shows increasing number digits. The Test button acts as a down arrow key, and shows decreasing number digits.)
  2. Press the ENTER button. An * will now be displayed in place of the digit.
  3. Repeat Steps 4a and 4b for the remaining five digits.
Note: If your password number is correct, the following will occur:
  • The light beside the lock icon will go off.
  • The message LJII READY TRAY 1 will be displayed.
  • An arrow will also appear in the printer display, indicating that the printer is online.
If the password number is incorrect, re-enter the correct password number.

If your third attempt to type your password number fails, then the Alternate should make three attempts. If the Alternate’s third attempt fails, then contact the OSC Help Desk (919-875-HELP).

5. Turn on the PC power switch and the monitor power switch.
6. Utilize your existing procedure to access the C prompt.

Note: If you log on to a file server or a network, contact your Agency System Administrator for logon procedures.

7. At the C prompt (C:\>), type win and press ENTER.

Note: The Windows Program Manager screen will appear.

8. Open the North Carolina Accounting System AP Check Printing program group by double-clicking on it, if necessary.
9. Double-click on the BT CheckGard icon.

Note: The CheckGard logon dialog box will appear.

10. In the CheckGard logon dialog box type your user name in the User Name field.
11. TAB once and type your password in the PASSWORD field.
12. Click OK.

If you receive an error message indicating that you have typed your user name/password incorrectly, repeat Steps 9 through 12. After three failed attempts you will need to contact the OSC Help Desk.
