Adding a Center Element Description Step-by-Step

After signing on:

Note: Center elements beyond fund (i.e., RCC/organization, project, others) must follow the following format:

The first element after budget fund is comprised of the center element number preceded by an alphabetic prefix. The prefix indicates the order in which the element numbers occur. For example, A indicates the first element of the center after the fund (e.g., A5555), B indicates the second element of the center after the fund (e.g., B6666), and so on.

1. Type .GL in the ACTION field and press ENTER to access the Online Processing (001) screen.
2. Type 4 in the ENTER SELECTION field and press ENTER to access the Online Update (006) screen.
3. Type 3 in the ENTER SELECTION field and press ENTER to access the Chart of Accounts (008) screen.
4. Type S in the SELECT column next to 288. Miscellaneous Descriptions and press ENTER to access the Miscellaneous Descriptions (288) screen.
5. Type A in the OPTION field to indicate an account addition.
6. Type your company number in the COMPANY field.
7. Type an alphabetic prefix indicating the order in which it occurs and the center element number in the DESCRIPTION ID field.. For example, A indicates the first element of the center after the fund (e.g., A5555), B indicates the second element of the center after the fund (e.g., B6666), C indicates the third element of the center after the fund (e.g., C7777), and so on. 

Note: Regardless of the length of the center element, it must always be preceded by a letter that indicates its position.

8. Type R in the TYPE field to indicate that this is a reporting description only.
9. Type the new description in the DESCRIPTION field.
10. Press ENTER to add the new component description.
