Comprehensive Annual Financial Report
of the State of North Carolina (CAFR)
For the Fiscal Year Ended June 30, 2000
The Office of the State Controller is
required to prepare a CAFR each year in accordance with generally accepted
accounting principles. The 2000 CAFR received an
unqualified opinion from the Office of the State Auditor
and is expected to conform to the
requirements of the
Certificate of Achievement for
Excellence in Financial Reporting program of the GFOA. This program
is
a prestigious national award recognizing conformance with the highest
standards for preparation of state and local government financial
reports. The
CAFR is divided into three major sections: - Introductory Section,
- Financial Section, and
- Statistical Section
This report is an essential tool for gaining an understanding of the
